tAngerinecAt
tAngerinecAt is a Welsh duo whose powerful sonic rituals move between ceremonial industrial, post-metal, shamanic electronica, overtone vocals, spoken word, and trance-like rhythms, creating a mesmerising soundscape of doom and delight.
Formed by Ukrainian-born, Wales-based producer, sound artist, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Zhenia Purpurovsky alongside Wales-based sound artist Paul Chilton, the project is rooted in a fierce anti-war, anti-fascist, and anti-ecocide ethos, paired with a deep commitment to artistic innovation.
Over more than a decade, the duo has built a worldwide following, releasing seven albums and touring in 15 countries, performing at an array of internationally recognised festivals including Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Tallinn Music Week, Menuo Joudaragis, Hradby Samoty, Ex Tenebris Lux, Focus Wales, Equinox, Eden, Willowman, and Knockengorroch, among many others. In 2024, they completed a tour across Germany and Czechia with dark-electro pioneers Project Pitchfork.
Their album GLASS reached the top of the Bandcamp charts and was named one of Louder Than War’s Top 100 Albums of 2022, establishing the band as one of the most arresting voices in contemporary alternative music. Their acclaimed follow-up, Grief, explores an East–West fusion shaped by Ukrainian and Soviet musical heritage, industrial electronica, and cathartic vocal performance. Its bold socio-political message underpinned a highly successful headline UK tour, with packed shows at iconic venues including The Voodoo Rooms (Edinburgh), The Old Church (London), and The Louisiana (Bristol). A new UK and European tour is scheduled for Spring 2026.
tAngerinecAt stands at the forefront of experimental music, crafting a transformative sound that is both deeply rooted and radically future-focused, defying genre, categorisation, and expectation.
"I’ve never heard anything quite like this... Chilling and Unsettlingly Beautiful... It’s Stunning" Adam Walton, BBC Wales
