Raised on the sounds of Laurel Canyon and the British Invasion, (Billy) Smith and (Elizabeth) Liddle grew up 25 miles away from each other in small towns but only met when Billy was on the lookout for a vocalist. The chemistry between the pair was instant, and over time their intertwined musical sensibilities evolved into something unique. With journals filled with lyrics and a treasure trove of musical ideas bubbling, the pair finally entered the studio to create their homage to soft rock, culminating in Songs For The Desert.

Embracing simplicity and timelessness, they etched their names in silver and gold and set out to bring their debut record to life. Smith & Liddle’s latest release is currently on UKs Jazz FM B list, it was BBC Introducing’s spotlight release and also track of the week on BBC North East, BBC Merseyside and the band were also live on BBC London last month. They performed live as part of the BBC Proms (presented as their choice of new rising act) in July and have just confirmed their own headline dates around the UK for November.
