A SPECTACULAR NIGHT WITH ELECTRONIC MUSIC PIONEERS THE ORB WITH SUPPORT FROM VIOLETA VICCI

English electronic music group The Orb were founded in 1988 by Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty. Known for their psychedelic sound, The Orb developed a cult following among clubbers. Their influential 1991 debut album The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld pioneered the UK's nascent ambient house movement, while its UK chart-topping follow-up U.F.Orb represented the group's commercial peak.

Now they're back on tour to celebrate the release of their latest studio album SETI, the latest collaboration between Alex Paterson and Andy Falconer of The Orb. The latest record takes listeners on an enchanting nighttime voyage through the cosmos. It's an "ambient unplugged" experience filled with acoustic instruments and nostalgic samples, bridging the realms of old-world charm and uncharted territories. The album presents a harmonious blend of glacial-paced melodies, Nyabinghi percussion, mandolin, and acoustic guitar, offering a unique fusion of elements. SETI, which stands for Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence, not only explores the universe but also provides a comfortable, chill-out space within its musical ambience. This record is a testament to the creative synergy between Paterson and Falconer, who effortlessly navigate uncharted musical territory, building on decades of trust and shared curiosity.

WITH SUPPORTING ARTIST VIOLETA VICCI

A multifaceted, contemporary violinist, vocalist and composer, Violeta Vicci feels comfortable genre-crossing from classical to ambient, multilayered electronics, her influences ranging from Bach to Brian Eno. Since starting the violin at the age of four and giving her concert debut at the age of fifteen, she fulfilled her long life dream to study at the Royal Academy of Music.

Violeta has recently supported the Orb on their 30th anniversary UK tour and collaborated with the likes of The Smile, Thom Yorke, Elbow, Sigur Ros, Steeleye Span and Bat For Lashes. She also arranges the strings for Fontaines DC and writes and performs with psychedelic rock band Ttrruuces.

During lockdown, Vicci started “Live Music in Nature” a series of live-streamed concerts performed in beautiful natural locations around the UK, combining strings, voice and effect pedals to create a soundtrack to nature. She has been nominated for a Royal Philharmonic Society Award and her most recent album ‘Cavaglia’ is an homage to a Swiss alpine valley and highlights the fragility of the environment and the beauty and the devastation created by climate change.

LEGENDARY DJ KRAFTY KUTS HEADLINES alongside plump djs and guests

KRAFTY KUTS

Renowned and respected worldwide for his highly technical turntablism, meticulously crafted DJ sets and party-punching productions, Krafty Kuts is in a league of his own.

One of the key pioneers in the UK breakbeat and bass movement, Krafty Kuts has multiple awards to his name and has released music on the likes of Ministry Of Sound, OWSLA, Southern Fried, DMC, Fabric and many more.

Continuously immersed in beat culture since forming his own b-boy break dancing crew in the late 80s, Krafty Kuts has had his own record store chain, run labels, promoted critical scene events, formed his own band Wicked City and performed to crowds of 40,000 alongside the biggest names in music from the Rolling Stones to The Prodigy. PLUMP DJS

Plumps DJs are internationally renowned UK DJ/Producer duo Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, widely considered to be the co-creators of the Breakbeat genre in dance music. Self admitted suckers for bass and ‘the groove’, the duo fuse the favourite styles from their youth into what they call ‘Plump Music’. The creative hub from which Andy & Lee craft their sound, is to this day still sited in Central London’s Soho. The results of which have led the duo to the four corners of the world to perform via a four deck DJ show, notching up literally thousands of live appearances.

The duo have enjoyed a prolific musical career spanning over two decades, spawning over 100 singles, many award-winning albums and compilations. Their sound was originally born into the now legendary breakbeat label Fingerlickin Records in the late 90’s, whose pioneering work provided the platform for the ground breaking A Plump Night Out album. This led to a golden era of breakbeat releases masterminded by label creators Jem Panufnik and Justin Rushmore of Soul of Man fame. Their list of collaborators reads like a line up at superfestival: Mark Ronson, Deadmou5, Fatboy Slim, Orbital… the list goes on.

Their legendary 10 year residency at Fabric Nightclub and subsequent regular shows at their home towns leading venues like XOYO and Ministry of Sound, are testament to the success of the Plump DJs in London. Further afield they have graced the main stages at premier festivals Boomtown, Glastonbury UK, Coachella USA, Fuji Rock Japan, Breakfest and Field Day Australia to name a few. Some of the worlds best nightclubs and venues have also felt the power of repeat Plump DJs shows. Space Ibiza, Womb Tokyo, Avalon LA, and even The O2 London are all on the ‘smashed it’ list… and now The Factory Live!

Norman Jay MBE + Soul Casserole

Don't miss OUT ON the Good Times AT THE FACTORY LIVE this April

Norman Jay has been vital to many of London's most important dance music institutions and influenced generations along the way. With over 40 years in the game, he's among the most knowledgeable and experienced DJs on the planet. Even the British monarchy have recognised his achievements, awarding him an MBE in 2002 for services to music.

While visiting family he witnessed New York block parties, just as the first hip-hop records were taking hold. On his return to Britain he combined his love of American dance music with his brother's knowledge of powerful reggae soundsystems. The result was Good Times, a soundsystem that changed the face of Notting Hill Carnival and catalysed the influential warehouse party scene of the '80s.

Norman later became a founding father of Kiss FM, arguably the most important pirate radio station of all time. There he launched the Original Rare Groove Show, establishing a sub-genre of obscure funk and soul still referenced today. He started the label Talkin' Loud with Gilles Peterson, signing some of the most acclaimed music of the late '80's and early '90's.

Continuing his burgeoning work as a broadcaster and playing an eclectic mix of black and dance music across the globe as the deejay’s DJ, Norman Jay remains at the forefront of club culture continually converting generations of clubbers to the cause, championing new sounds, yet never forgetting his musical roots, thus guaranteeing nothing but the ‘Good Times’.

Following her 2011 smash with Robbie Rivera and Cosmic Gate (‘Departures’), Lizzie went on to top the Beatport and Traxsource Charts with an impressive arsenal of releases, and in 2017 she hit her first Billboard Number One; teaming up with Scotty Boy to create a stunning cover of the dance classic ‘You’re Not Alone’. Alongside a slew of new releases on respected labels such as Armada, No Definition and Perfecto Records, Lizzie’s follow up single with Scotty Boy ‘Shine Your Love’ also ascended to the very top of the Billboard Dance Charts in 2018.

When not working hard on her studio tan, Lizzie is jetting around the world to hit the stage with her trademark blend of crowd-enthusing energy and technical prowess. From Live Vocal PAs to DJ shows, Lizzie’s ability to ignite the crowd is second to none. Her career highlights include a residency at the world’s biggest club ‘Privilege’ (in Ibiza), over a decade of show-stopping performances across the US and Europe (including the legendary Ministry of Sound) and inimitable sets on the world’s largest floating dance music festival Groove Cruise, which have made her a firm favourite with the loyal GCFam.

Alongside her two Billboard #1s, Lizzie’s remixes have also been an instrumental part of several Billboard Dance hits, most notably her remix of StoneBridge’s iconic single ‘Put Em High’, which also hit the #1 spot (yes - another number one!) in 2015. Take a closer look at Lizzie’s discography and you’ll see an impressive array of releases on many prestigious labels including Toolroom, Cr2, Urbana, Cruise Music, In It Together, Let There Be House, Juicy Music, Nervous, Hotfingers and Enormous Tunes/No Definition, with some of the industry’s biggest names (such as Moby, Fatboy Slim, EDX, Tiesto & Richie Hawtin) supporting her music.

Alongside teaching at the prestigious Point Blank Music School in London, the future is looking very busy - and very bright - for the ever-smiling dance music maestro!

DJ Chris Diesel

Chris started clubbing back in 2000, going to various parties including Frantic, Pickle, Xlr8, Solid

Sunday etc.

Then he fell in love with the DJing and music and was inspired by seeing DJs such as Phil Reynolds

and Nikki S performing.

At that point, Chris decided he wanted to give mixing a go himself.

So, he made the jump from being on the dancefloor to going behind the decks.

And in October 2009, he played his first gig playing at Refre5h at Club 414.

However, for a few years, Chris didn’t pursue his mixing seriously until February 2020. Chris had his

last party at All Things Trance then and in lockdown…really missed clubbing and friends. Chris took

delivery of his lovely new DJ controller.

Chris’s wife, Fran told him to focus on his new controller and to focus on his music in lockdown. So,

he then through himself into music, this time concentrating and learning how to mix properly.

Within a few weeks, he learnt about Streaming …going from streaming on his phone….to setting up

OBS and Twitch, through proper PC setup.

After doing many DJ streams, Chris was asked my Leigh and Richard Brownlee to perform at Club

Stuff in July 2020. This was Chris’s first online gig and was widely acclaimed. He then built upon this

and developed his experience further.

In August 2020, Chris auditioned and won a role of Radio Presenter for Kennet Radio. Kennet Radio

is a community-based FM radio station serving a local audience of 141,000 people in the Newbury

area.

Chris took a monthly Saturday slot for this and created a new radio show called Hard Dance

Saturday,

In which Chris regularly mixes Hard Trance and Hard House music. Chris not only developed his DJ

skills but also his radio presenting skills.

In October 2020, Chris won a DJ mix competition organized by Amber D and Chris had his guest mix

played live in LDC Radio by Amber, which was another positive thrilling experience.

Chris as well as doing his monthly radio show, continued to create mixes on his Mixcloud page and

In April 2021, he did another live DJ set for Divine Disabilities Weekender and then following this,

Chris was asked to do a DJ mix for Outreach Radio, a DAB radio station serving the South Coast of

England.

Then in July 2021, Chris met Fi Garrett and was asked to play for Amped NZ.

Stage Van H

George Panagoulopoulos aka Stage Van H was born and raised in Holland. Stage has been DJ-ing since November '85, playing at major clubs, events and festivals in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Greece & the islands and other Eastern European countries,In the 90’ties he moved to Greece where he was one of the pioneers of progressive house music in this country for over 10 years. In early 2005, alongside his young greek studio & booth-mate Tash they released their debut album 'Movement' and launching at the same time their own electronic music record-label entitled Movement Recordings. He also started collaborating with other producers and released various tracks with them, mostly on the labels Just Movement, Movement Rec., Abstract Space Records , Addictive Sounds, Balkan Connection and Massive Harmony. When he moved back to Holland in 2013, he worked closely with Rogier and his brother Alex Panagoulopoulos. Together with his brother they started the label Just Movement where he is one of the main producers. On this label he released his first solo album Just The Beginning in 2014 and produced hundreds of releases at several labels in 4 years in which his productions got a lot of attention at Beatport, Release promo etc. After moving to England at the end of 2015 he is doing thefinishing touches on his forthcoming chill out album Musical Freedom and a Greek Progressive Bootleg Album as well.Nowadays he is producing full on and still playing as a DJ with upcoming gigs in Holland,United Kingdom and Greece, where he plays his own music and celebrates his 3 decades of Dj-ing !

DJ Wheels

A bit about me as a DJ I started my DJ career in 2018 DJing in my local town to local ravers in bars..

Then unfortunately the country went into a national lockdown so like everyone else in the scene I transitioned onto social media pages during the pandemic the first time around from there I progressed onto Internet radio ware I’m currently a resident DJ on Groovelondon Radio with two shows per week and I thoroughly enjoy it!

Then the back end of last year I made my debut playing in Brighton at the infamous Volks club!! Also this year in April I have my first ever release coming out on Vandit recordings Which as you all probably know is managed by Paul van Dyk so really excited for that!!

Deptford Northern Soul Club

Deptford Northern Soul Club

Deptford Northern Soul Club
are childhood friends, Will Foot and Lewis Henderson, whose early love of soul developed after discovering Lewis’ Dad’s record collection. After finally bringing their musical heritage to the forefront with their debut DJ set at Deptford’s Bunker Club 4 years ago, they have since taken their credible and unique club night around the UK, performing at the likes of Glastonbury festival and Green Man, alongside a residency at Manchester’s YES, their beloved Bunker Club and London’s Moth Club.

Whether behind a turntable, dancing out front or in discussion, their sheer love and passion for soul is infectious, as is the spark of friendship and mutual musical appreciation between the two of them. 27-years-old but with old heads on their sharply
dressed young shoulders, they have emerged as the new face of Northern Soul, bringing the movement back into the conversation of modern dance music.

In November 2019 they launched Deptford Northern Soul Club Records, a modern reissue label.

“After scouring record shops, markets and the internet for the best music for our sets we became increasingly frustrated at the cost and poor quality of the records that we wanted to play. Whilst being happy to use digital alternatives in their place, good quality WAVs for some of the more obscure tracks became near impossible to find. So, from day one we began to make a list of all the tracks we played out that were unobtainable on vinyl and those we could only have dreamt of playing that it seemed were lost to time. This list became the bedrock for Deptford Northern Soul Club Records, and with the help of Northern fans up and down the UK it grew to the point where we began searching for the rights and the highest quality audio to reissue. KTF!” - Will and Lewis

“There are no gimmicks here: just a love of all things Northern Soul.” NME

“The duo bringing northern soul back to the fore.”
London in Stereo

“The crate-diggers placing rare soul in a fresh context.”
Clash

“A very fresh approach to a genre that’s been a vital part of club nights for decades.”

Norman Jay MBE

Norman Jay MBE
+ special guests Inappropriate Handclap

Norman Jay MBE is unquestionably one of most respected and popular DJs in the world today. Born in Notting Hill, Jay played his first gig aged 8 at a 10th birthday party. Influenced by his father's record collection of blue beat, ska and jazz, by the late 1970s he was considered an emerging authority on contemporary Afro-American music including funk, disco, soul and jazz fusion.

During a series of late-70s trips to New York, visiting family, Norman was inspired by the city's unique and vibrant club scene, and on his return to the UK teamed up with his brother, Joey, to build the Good Times Sound System, playing funk, soul and disco at Notting Hill Carnival. Cementing his reputation as co-founder of, and prime selector on, the then London pirate radio station KISS FM. Jay originally coined the term, and subsequently fostered the emerging 'Rare Groove' scene, filling the airwaves and many warehouse parties under his Shake and Fingerpop guises, with the best in 70s & 80s grooves and nascent house cuts. Pushing the boundaries of the UK's emerging club culture he went on to co-found the first 'Paradise Garage' style club in Britain - 'High On Hope', and, alongside kindred spirit Gilles Peterson, Norman established the Talkin 'Loud label, spearheading the Acid Jazz scene.

Throughout the late 80s and 90s, Jay continued to build a reputation as one of the world's most popular DJs, packing clubs to the rafters wherever he played, taking the underground sounds of rare groove and house firmly into the mainstream. The turn of the century saw Norman Jay takes on the role of elder statesman, receiving an MBE from the Queen for services to deejaying and music.

Most recently he has taken his legendary Good Times parties to the East of London, sharing the carnival vibes with venues including St John at Hackney Church, Oval Space and Mick's Garage. His latest compilation 'Mister Good Times' released with Sunday Best Recordings captures the true spirit of Good Times,' People who used to come to arrive early doors carnival will know exactly what this is about, ”says Norman. Continuing his burgeoning work as a broadcaster, and playing an eclectic mix of black and dance music across the globe as the deejay’s DJ, Norman Jay remains at the forefront of club culture continually converting generations of clubbers to the cause, championing new sounds, yet never forgetting his musical roots, thus guaranteeing nothing but the 'Good Times'.

After Selling Out The Factory back in February 2020; Judge Jules returns in 2021...

He’s one DJ that has been there, done that and done it all again, and for almost three decades Judge Jules has led the way in the world of dance music. Since hitting the decks in 1987, Judge Jules has influenced an entire generation on Kiss FM and Radio 1 and continues to be on the playlists of millions with his weekly radio show The Global Warm Up, which notches up 750,000 downloads every single week via his podcast and is broadcast on over 80 stations around the world.

As a pioneer of the club scene, passion and persona behind the decks coupled with crowd connection and unrivalled mixing has earned Judge Jules unforgettable sets at the world’s most iconic clubs and festivals including Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound, Global Gathering and Creamfields.

In the studio, Judge Jules has released over 100 tracks of which ten have reached the top 40 in the UK national charts with countless more gracing the upper reaches of the dance charts. He’s mixed compilations for Ministry of Sound, Universal and Warner Bros, which have racked up over 3 million sales, and he’s currently in the studio gearing up to drop a whole host of new beats for 2017.

Earning his place amongst DJ legends, Judge Jules has received accolades such as #1 DJ (Mixmag), Best International DJ (Dancestar Awards), Best Radio DJ (Smirnoff’s Dancestars), and has consistently featured in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, peaking at #3 in the world, alongside the industry’s greatest.

Jules’ presence and reputation in Ibiza is legendary, and his famous brand, Judgement Fridays (formerly Judgement Sundays) is the longest standing DJ residency in Ibiza history. The night continues to pack out its Balearic home week in, week out over the summer season, totting up 16 years of events on the island.
Judge Jules is not planning on slowing down. Instead, he’s continuing to innovate and lead as he always has done taking the ‘Judgement’ brand to the next level in the form of a record label, and UK tour to influence a whole new generation of dance music lovers.

Having spent plenty of time locked away in the studio, 2016 saw a serious return to form in terms of productions with the launch of his own ‘Judgement Recordings’ and releases on Coldharbour Recordings, Sirup Music and more. With tracks like ‘Turn On The Lights’, ‘Burn In The Sun’, ‘With A Song’ and ‘Te Quiero’ all gaining high profile support and on chart placements on Beatport, Jules is still very much at the top of his game both behind the decks and in the studio.

With his early ambitions earning him the name Judge Jules, the legal world has become something of a backbone throughout his entire career and having re-trained whilst on tour, during part of the week, in addition to his DJ travels, Jules is a music lawyer with Sheridans, advising labels, DJs, artists and a wide range of other music industry folk. Jules has also lent his expertise in the legal field to a regular ‘Industry Insiders’ column in Mixmag offering advice to up and coming DJs and artists."Phases come and go, genres are born and laid to rest in the blink of an eye, but one thing is for certain… Judge Jules is here to stay...
